GPL Book Group

The Library will host a discussion of What the Eyes Don't See by Mona Hanna-Attisha. Laurie Wolfley, Professor of English at UConn Avery Point, will lead the event. Copies are available at the Library.

One Book One Region Author Visit

AT CONNECTICUT COLLEGE

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha will visit the Palmer Auditorium to discuss her book and related themes with Julia Flagg, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Environmental Studies.

Tri Town Trail Hike

Join us for a guided hike on Phase 1 of the Tri Town Trail at the Preston-Ledyard line. The hike is 3.5 miles of easy to moderate terrain and includes the Spicer homestead ruins. Ages 14+

Kevin Booker Jr. will moderate this panel discussion focusing on the themes of this year’s One Book One Region selection.

Passport Awareness Month

Most people apply for their passport too late. Why wait? Submit an application in the fall and winter to take advantage of faster processing—even if you don’t have a trip planned yet. For adults renewing their passport, the process can be done by mail. Check your passport’s expiration date as many countries require a minimum of six months of validity. Visit travel.state.gov for more information about obtaining a U.S. passport.

Diaper Drive: Sept. 18-30

The Circle of Friends are collecting diapers in coordination with National Diaper Need Awareness Week. Drop off donations of any size diapers; new and opened packages welcome.

Storytime for all! Children and a caregiver are welcome to join us for stories, fingerplays, bounces, and more. This program will take place outside, weather permitting. Please bring a blanket or chair to sit on.

Family Film & Fundraiser

The Junior Friends will present a showing of a family-friendly film. Refreshments will be for sale with proceeds to benefit the Library.

Little Explorers
WED., SEPT. 20, 10 AM

Explore art, science, and sensory materials at our learning tables in this child-focused program. For ages 2+. Children must be supervised by a caregiver at all times.

Sing & Stomp
WED., SEPT. 27, 10 AM

Join us for an active, music-enriched program open to all! Sing & Stomp is a noisy half hour of songs, dance, and finger plays.

Request a children's book bundle and have up to 10 books picked out for you! Participants must have an active library card; call or reserve online.

Also, look in the bins in our Children’s room for premade, themed book bags, from dinosaurs to superheroes!
