Happy Holidays, everyone!

If we haven't met before, my name is Emily Davis, Director of Educational Programs for the Great Plains Nature Center. I've been at the GPNC for six years because of how truly unique and crucial this place is. Each year, we make an impact by inspiring generations of students to be good stewards of our natural world through FREE exceptional environmental education and nature programs for all ages.

This edition of the Prairie Post highlights the progress on our new Outdoor Mural, ways you can make a tangible difference for nature and accessible environmental education, an impact story from a Wichita teacher, and a sneak peak at our first event for 2024. See you next year!

Sincerely,
Emily Davis, C.IG.

OUTDOOR MURAL UPDATE

In October, Artist Delilah Reed and her Loud Cicada team began work on the brand new Outdoor Mural in Chisholm Creek Park at the Great Plains Nature Center.

Work is now well under way on the Outdoor Mural on the bathrooms near the entrance to the Chisholm Creek Park trails! Her work features native landscapes and species, like Great Blue Herons, Bison, and White-tailed Deer. Come visit the park this holiday season to see her colorful work of art in person. See if you can spot the species she features while walking in the park!

This project was possible through support from the Kansas Department of Commerce Creative Arts Industries Commission, the National Endowment of the Arts, and generous donors to the Friends of the Great Plains Nature Center.

HOW TO SUPPORT GPNC
Year-End Giving

Your support helped lead the way to bringing hands-on nature education with a purpose to over 60,000 people in 1,814 programs for free in 2023. As you consider your year-end charitable giving, know that every $25 you give to our organization covers the cost for one student to enjoy a free nature education program with animal ambassadors, hikes, activities, and more at the Great Plains Nature Center.

Your support is vital for ensuring our nature education and environmental stewardship programs are growing and adapting to the needs of today's students. Thank You!
