When people think of a library, they often think of a building with books. Indeed, there are many, many books here but, over the years, library buildings and services have shifted to continually meet community needs and provide increasing digital access.
At the Great Barrington Libraries, you can:
- Access the internet by using the libraries’ numerous desktop and laptop computers, or by connecting your device to free Wi-Fi available in the libraries and on the libraries’ grounds. You can even borrow the internet from the library by checking out a Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows up to ten devices to connect to high-speed internet.

- Download the Libby app to borrow e-books, e-audiobooks,          e-magazines, and more. If the Great Barrington Libraries or even CW MARS (the Central & Western Massachusetts library consortium) does not have the digital material you’re looking for, or if the wait time is longer than you’d hoped, expand your digital search by adding Boston Public Library and six other Massachusetts library consortiums to your Libby account.
- Read digital editions of The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.
- Watch movies, documentaries, and kids’ favorites on the video streaming service Kanopy.

- Check out Scholastic BookFlix, an e-book library with hundreds of animated stories and nonfiction for kids in pre-K through grade 3.
