Governor Ricketts’ Veterans Day Statement

Government and Politics

November 11, 2022

From: Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen

LINCOLN – On Nov 10th, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in recognition of Veterans Day. Veterans Day is observed on November 11, 2022.

“Throughout our state’s history, Nebraskans have made it a priority to honor our veterans.  In fact, our appreciation is built into the very foundation of our State Capitol. The building’s cornerstone—set in place 100 years ago—is dedicated to Nebraska’s veterans.”

“Our state’s tradition of recognizing our veterans remains as vibrant as ever. Communities across our state build parks, sculptures, and monuments to honor our veterans. These tributes preserve the stories of their heroic patriotism for future generations.”

“Our veterans deserve our appreciation for their sacrifices and time spent away from loved ones while on duty. They deserve our respect for their willingness to risk their own safety to ensure our nation’s security. And they richly merit our honor for their service to protect our freedoms.”

“Nebraska is blessed to be home to nearly 127,000 veterans. As we celebrate Veterans Day, I encourage Nebraskans to thank the veterans in their families and communities for all they’ve done on our behalf.”

Weather permitting, the State Capitol will be illuminated in green on Friday for Veterans Day.
