TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly on July 19th, announced appointments to the following state commission, council, and board.? 

Kansas Dental Board
Purpose: The purpose of the Kansas Dental Board is to adopt rules, issue licenses, and conduct hearings to revoke or suspend dental licenses.

Davette McCoy, Wichita

Kansas Board of Healing Arts
Purpose: The purpose of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts is the regulation of eleven healthcare professions and to ensure that these healthcare professionals meet and maintain certain qualifications in order to protect the public from incompetent practice, unprofessional conduct, and other proscribed behavior by individuals who have been credentialed to practice in Kansas.

Kansas Children’s Cabinet
Purpose: The purpose of the Kansas Children's Cabinet is to assist the Governor in developing and implementing a coordinated, comprehensive service delivery system to serve the children and families of Kansas.

LeEtta Felter, Olathe (reappointment)

Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board
Purpose: The mission is to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare from unlawful or unprofessional practitioners who fall under the board’s jurisdiction. To this end, the agency has defined the statutory credentialing qualifications by establishing, through rules and regulations, minimal educational and experiential requirements that applicants seeking credentialing in each of the regulated groups must satisfy before the board grants the applicable credential. Also, to this end, the board has defined statutorily prohibited conduct through rules and regulations and has defined those acts which constitute unprofessional or incompetent practice. 

Richard Nobles, Overland Park

911 Coordinating Council
Purpose: The purpose of this council is to monitor the delivery of 911 services, develop strategies for future enhancements to the 911 system and distribute available grant funds to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).

Cady Macfee, Overland Park

KS Supreme Court Nominating Commission
Purpose: This board is responsible for recommending qualified individuals for appointment to the Kansas Supreme Court.

Diane Oakes, Lawrence

Law Enforcement Memorial Advisory Committee
Purpose: The purpose of this committee is to advise the director of architectural services and the secretary of state historical society regarding memorials to law enforcement officers on the State Capitol ground; make recommendation to the Governor and legislature regarding activities commemorating the services of Kansas Law Enforcement officers; may solicit grants, gifts, contributions, and bequests for the memorial(s).
