Next week, Governor Mike Dunleavy will welcome global leaders to Anchorage for the 2024 Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference. The week will kick off on Monday, May 20, with a pre-conference event in partnership with the Department of Energy Arctic Energy Office. The main conference begins on May 21 at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center.

“The Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference is a catalyst for transforming energy in Alaska now and for the next 50 years,” said Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy. “ASEC is a conference unlike any other because it not only highlights speakers with global energy expertise, but will also dig into the particular challenges and opportunities in Alaska both on the Railbelt and in our rural communities.”

One of the dynamic leaders Governor Dunleavy is excited to welcome to the main stage is Dr. Jeff Waksman. Dr. Waksman has been leading Project Pele for the Department of Defense to develop the first advanced mobile nuclear reactor and will be presenting a project update as a featured speaker on May 23. His presentation will include the first-ever public pictures of the project components that will be assembled into a reactor in 2025.

In addition to Dr. Waksman, featured speakers include Martina Strong, U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; Rachel Jacobson, Assistant Secretary of the US Army; Martin Keller, Director of the National Renewable Energy Lab; Walt Hufford, REPSOL Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs; Jeff Mikulina, Executive Director of the Hawaii Climate Coalition, among others. Additionally, the conference will feature a high-level presentation and panel from the Wyoming Case Study: Attracting Investment in Advanced Nuclear Power.

Dozens of exhibitors will be available to discuss and showcase their work in the energy industry. To register, view the latest agenda, learn more about the speakers and sign up for email updates, please visit AlaskaSustainableEnergy.com.
