DIRECTOR'S NOTE
It was great to see so many people at the Library this past month, for our Capital Campaign Kick-Off event, Friends of the Gleason Public Library book swap on Old Home Day, concerts on the lawn, and more - a wonderful start to summer! Read on below for more fun summer events for all ages, plus staff picks, Wall Street Journal online access, and more.

LIBRARY ROOF CONSTRUCTION
Construction work to replace the Gleason Library roof continues. The Gleason remains fully open to the public during construction. Patrons should be aware that noise levels inside the Library may be elevated and that available parking is reduced. Access to one entrance at a time may sometimes be limited. Curbside pickup service is available; call 978-369-4898. 

LIBRARY HOURS FOR JULY
Summer Saturday hours begin this month - the Gleason will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in July and August. Regular Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. resume after Labor Day.

The Gleason Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

SUMMER READING 2023: FIND YOUR VOICE!
Saturday, June 17–Saturday, August 26
Stop by the Library to pick up your Book Bingo sheet! We have Bingos for all ages from Preschool to Adult. We also have a Reading Raffle with some awesome prizes for students going into grades 1-8. See our website for more details or to download your Bingo sheet at home.

HENNA ON THE LAWN
Tuesday, July 11 | 4-6 p.m.
Henna artist Mandy Roberge will be giving henna tattoos on the Library Lawn! Mandy uses fresh, natural handmade henna that is safe for all skin types and is recommended for ages 6 and up. Stop by anytime during the event. All ages are welcome. Find out more about Mandy at her website, wickedgoodhenna.com.

FARM ON THE GO WITH GOOD PICKIN' FARM
Monday, July 3 | 2-4 p.m.
Do you like animals? Join us on the library lawn to meet live farm animals up close, and even pet them. Animals include goats, chickens, ducks, bunnies, and guinea pigs to snuggle and love. This program is for all ages. This event will be postponed if heavy rains/thunderstorms are predicted. The library’s website and social media channels will be updated if we need to postpone due to inclement weather.

JOHN HIGBY: THE YO-YO GUY
Thursday, July 20 | 4 p.m.
John Higby is the Yo-Yo Guy! See him perform his unique high-energy comedy yo-yo show, which he has performed in 26 countries from New Zealand to Japan. He also holds the world yo-yo champion title and 4 Guinness World Records! Immediately following the show, John Higby will lead a yo-yo tricks workshop. This fun event is for ages 5 and up. Registration is required as space is limited.

FIND YOUR VOICE: A PARTICIPATORY MUSIC PROGRAM WITH JULIE STEPANEK
Tuesday, July 25 | 6 p.m.
Join us on the front lawn for FIND YOUR VOICE, a participatory music program with Julie Stepanek. This fun program is for all ages and features chants, call & responses, and singable songs. Please bring a blanket or low chairs to sit on. Register your family here.

KIDS CRAFTS ON THE LAWN
Join us for crafts on the Library Lawn! For ages 4 and up. All Crafts on the Lawn will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To sign up for your family’s time slot, email Jenn at [email protected]. In case of inclement weather, craft may be moved inside or postponed.

NATURE CONNECTION STORY TIME
Thursday, July 6 | 10:30 a.m.
Join The Nature Connection as we explore plants and animals and connect with the world around us in new ways—all through nature-based stories and poems! During this monthly 45-minute program for 3–6-year-olds, we will read a seasonally appropriate story followed by a sensory engagement activity. Registration is required; please register for each session individually.
