The Musings from Main Go Online

Thank you to everyone for being so supportive of the Musings from Main e-mails over the past few years. It has been wonderful to get all of the feedback about which Musings were your favorites,  some suggestions for topics, along with additional information and memories.

We also appreciate all of the people who took the time to reach out with corrections and questions.  We have tried to keep up and address the errors or answer your questions but inevitably some have fallen through the cracks.  Please feel free to reach out and "gently remind" us if we have missed something, and we will try to catch it this time around.

One of the suggestions that we received from many people, was to put the Musings from Main up online.  Well, you spoke and we listened!  We have begun to put selected Musing up on our website. We are dividing them up loosely according to subject matter with the first group focusing on history.  If you missed a Musing and want to read it, want to re-read one for research and explore its primary sources, or just look back at some of the images again, they are at your fingertips. Enjoy!

Thank you and keep the replies coming in.

Brad Factory School

The black and white photograph above shows the District #3 Schoolhouse (also known as the Brad Factory School) in winter. This building stood in front of where the Union District School now stands. The John Newberry King House is to the right and is where Wood Memorial Library and Museum now stands.

Charles Lanman Green (1841-1922)

Who is this man in his Navy dress uniform? Hint: He lived in the house commonly referred to as "The Ponderosa" on Main Street.

No, it is not Commodore Green. But you are close. It’s his oldest son, Charles Lanman Green.
