MAGGIE HODGES
Paintings
There is such a lovely glow of the early morning light on Skinner Mountain, the sparkle on the Connecticut River or the sunlight shining through the trees. My paintings capture my feeling and impression of the beauty in nature and especially in and around the Pioneer Valley.
Many of my paintings are done outdoors which is often referred to as plein air painting. Often after painting outside I finish the painting in my studio or use it as a study for a larger painting. I choose to paint in oils because it offers a richness through applying the paint in different textures and thicknesses which I find adds depth and interest to my paintings.

DALE ROGERS
Paintings and Ceramics
To create is to strive to mirror the beauty all around us, to find meaning in this life experience, to achieve a balance for all that is destructive and full of pain and seemingly hopeless. In the process of making, there are elements of curiosity, compassion, forgiveness, faith, hope, and love, as well as elements of design. The desire within is to make a painting or a pot as perfectly as possible, given imperfect human hands, heart, and mind of the maker. To be a maker is to affirm and underscore the value of each day. Dale Rogers’s oil paintings and utilitarian and/or sculptural pottery pieces are created to honor and cherish ordinary daily life.

KIMIKO DONOHOE:
Japanese Pop Art and Landscape
I am inspired by the small details of life that we often take for granted. Art to me is an appreciation of nature which makes the ordinary, extraordinary. I am an oil painter, a silk kimono weaver, and a certified flower designer. Most of my works are of landscapes, a few abstracts, and some portraits.
As a Japanese artist, the special Ukiyoe (oo-ki-yo-e, Edo era (1603 ~ 1868) color scheme has always fascinated me. For this exhibition, I used unique colors of Ukiyoe, which consists of Prussian blue, dark red, gold. The pieces I have created integrate pop art with the scenery that I am accustomed to. Prussian blue was a very popular color among painters in the times of Ukiyoe. Amongst the artists who used the colors is Hokusai, who is famous for the woodblock print ”Big Wave”. I hope that my paintings will escort viewers to the wonderful world of Ukiyoe.
