Celebrates Western Music with New March Concert Performances

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra is continuing their dynamic new series of extraordinary 2024 concert performances. With about 50 musicians from Lake County and all over the world, their musical talents are brought right here to you each year.

March Music! The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will present their March 21 and 22 concerts with cowboy panache, beginning the program with the familiar theme from the vintage television series, "The Lone Ranger" of which the actual music is the "William Tell Overture". The first half of the program will continue with other Western favorites such as: "On the trail" -- the famous donkey theme from the "Grand Canyon Suite", from Ferde Grofe, "Shenandoah", "Rodeo Hoedown" by Aaron Copland, "Ghost Riders in the Sky", "High Noon" by the great Dmitri Tiomkin for the classic movie starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelley, the haunting "Ashokan Farewell" as well as with Carmen Dragon's rousing arrangement of "O' Susanna".

You will be entertained with magnificent violin solos played by the FLSO's Concert Master, Konstantin Dimitrov. The second half of the concert program will be Dvorak's masterpiece -- "The New World Symphony", including the beautiful "Largo" movement which became known as "Goin' Home". The last movement of the symphony is entirely recognizable as the inspiration for John Williams' score for Stephen Spielberg's movie "Jaws". The entire concert will be like the title “Western Serenade"... like the "New World,” being raucous and energetic, yet moving and endearing music performed with great passion. This March concert will be conducted by Carl Topilow of the Cleveland Pops.
