From: Firehouse Art Center

Hello!
The Firehouse Art Center is cruising into the Fall with events and new exhibits and I just wanted to share!  We are wrapping up our Summer on the Streets weekend festivals with CHALKMONT and then endcapping the summer with the LARGE ArtWalk on Main.  Our Artist in Residence, Jono Wright, debuts his culminating exhibit, Memento Vivere. He has also curated the South Gallery bringing in 5 thought provoking contemporary artists that push the boundaries of what art can be. I hope you can make it to one of our festivals, or to a new exhibit opening soon!  (Hi Res photos available)

ArtWalk Longmont, the Firehouse Art Center and the Longmont Creative District are bringing back CHALKMONT!
On August 27, 2022, 10 local artists will join together to create chalk art at Summer on the Streets. These artists will turn the Longmont Public Library Pavilion into a vivid canvas of colorful chalk art. While the artists work, Summer on the Streets, the Firehouse Art Center’s weekend street art festival, will give guests the opportunity to shop at a local art market, listen to live music and enjoy food truck fare. Quarters Bar and Arcade’s travelling Arcade will be at the event as well.  The community of all ages can also participate in painting a large chalk paint street mural.

The Firehouse Art Center invites you to Jono Wright’s culminating exhibition. Wright was selected as the 2022 Summer Artist in Residence for the Firehouse Artist Occupied Series. This program invites emerging and established artists working in all media to explore their practice while engaging with the community.
In “Memento Vivere”, Wright flips the tradition of memento mori, “reminders of death”, by creating works that are a reminder of what we love and what gives us life. The exhibition is on view from September 9th through October 2nd, with an opening reception on Spetember 10h from 6pm-8pm, during ArtWalk.

“Risky Business”, curated by Summer Artist in Residence, Jono Wright, brings 5 contemporary artists to Longmont that aren’t afraid to push boundaries.
Featuring Kevin Sloan, Trine Bumiller, Ian McLaughlin, Michael A. Frazier and Melissa Furness, the exhibition opens on September 9 and runs until October 2nd, with a reception scheduled during ArtWalk on September 10th from 6pm-8pm. From a moss covered wheelchair, to a painted refrigerator door, the artwork included in this exhibition is the result of experimentation and fearless adventuring beyond the known and comfortable.
