From: Fairfield University

Founded in 1947, The Fairfield University Glee Club, under the direction of Fr. John Murray S.J. and musical director Simon Harak, is the oldest club on Fairfield University’s campus. This mixed chorus of more than 100 undergraduate and graduate singers has performed in churches, schools and recital and concert halls throughout Europe, singing from Galway to Rome and Florence to London. The choir has performed at Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Westminster Cathedral in London, the Aula Paolo VI at the Vatican and the U.S. military academies at West Point and Annapolis. The Glee Club performs a varied repertoire of early, classical, and contemporary music in numerous engagements with other choruses, and with festival and symphonic Orchestras.

The Fairfield University Glee Club has long been under the direction of Carole Ann Maxwell, DSM, P'02. She is one of America's preeminent conductors of collegiate, community and professional choral ensembles and serves as the artistic director and conductor of the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut and the chorus master for Connecticut Grand Opera and Orchestra.

“For the Glee Club’s 75th Diamond Jubilee Concert in April, we have commissioned a special composition by the composer, Kevin Johnson, for chorus, brass and percussion. It will be premiered on April 1. We are hoping to celebrate with many of our Alumni Singers on that evening” shared Carole Ann Maxwell.

The Fairfield University Glee Club has a number of stellar concerts coming up on the Quick Center stage and we encourage you to be a part of the celebration
