The SpongeBob Squarepants Musical

I was skeptical about THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL. Who’s it for? Is it for kids? Will it hold my attention? Is the humor that which only die-hard SpongeBob fans will understand? What’s a Krabby Patty anyway?  

After dropping in on some rehearsals and watching the transformation of our theatre into an underwater city of Bikini Bottom, here’s what I’ve learned:

SPONGEBOB is for everybody! It may be adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon animated TV series, and though your kids will absolutely love it, it is not just a kids’ show. But even if you don’t have kids, or yours are off on their own, you’ll have a great time! Packed with music by heavyweights such as Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! at the Disco, They Might Be Giants, and more, the score will have you dancing in your SquarePants!

Whether you’re 7 or 70, a SpongeBob devotee or first-time consumer, it’s a highly entertaining, surprisingly moving, colorful, comedic musical bursting at the seams with high energy, a billion props, and even tap dancing anemones. And it’s all brought to life by our talented cast and crew of local theatre artisans and musicians.

Upcoming Auditions
It’s a Wonderful (and Miserable) time…to audition!

We are excited to announce that auditions for the Erie Playhouse productions of MISERY and IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE will be held on August 6 and 7 at 6:30 at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall at 1158 East 12th Street.

The Erie Playhouse practices Color Conscious casting.  All ethnicities and newcomers are especially welcomed.  All roles are available. Actors are asked to arrive and to sign in within the first hour of the audition start time.

USHERING & BARTENDER OPPORTUNITIES
We are looking for new volunteers to add to our Front of House team. Duties include working in the concession stand, handing out playbills, helping patrons find their seats, selling sales cart items, and more. Ushers get to see every show for free, plus become a valued member of our Playhouse family!
