Thank You For Spreading the Word

The Foundation is awarding over $163,000 in scholarships this spring ranging from $500 to $5,000 including many new opportunities. Applications closed this week and we had over 1,415 applications submitted from 489 SCPS students!

Thank you to everyone who helped us spread the word to our high school seniors. These scholarships provide an opportunity for our students to further their education and they truly make a difference.

"Moving to Florida was a most uncertain experience and I was not sure I would see any kind of success here. This scholarship will greatly help me to reach my academic goals at the University of Central Florida as I work toward my degree in Computer Science."

Support for Academy of Health Careers

Thank you Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (CFEF) for their $25,000 grant to the revitalization of the Academy of Health Careers magnet program at Seminole High School.

This program offers a hands-on approach to two very different components of health care: patient care and biomedical care. This revitalization strengthens the pipeline for Health Technicians, Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, and a number of other healthcare professions thus ensuring graduates are provided high-quality instruction and authentic hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment.

Thank You Seminole County Sheriff's Office

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office recently donated $30,000 to our Take Stock in Children program and Midway Safe Harbor.

Through these two programs, funds support some of Seminole County's most vulnerable and at-risk students. Midway Safe Harbor is an after-school community program that offers a safe place for after school tutoring and support, while Take Stock in Children offers deserving, at-risk students a chance to escape the cycle of poverty through education, mentorships, workshops and more.

Thank you to the Sheriff's Office for supporting these students who need it most. Read more.

Have You Heard?

Thank you to First Baptist Church of Oviedo for donating $14,708 to the School Safety and Security Initiative.

SCPS is committed to creating a safe environment for students to come to school every day, ready to learn. We are thankful for those who care so much about the safety of our students.

Take Stock in Children recently had their Senior College Prep Workshop. Program Alumnus, Yaritzel Ramierez-Rogel, attended as a guest to share some valuable tips with our seniors.

Parents and students left the evening expressing much thanks for the opportunity to learn directly from a TSIC Alumnus and current college student.
