REVEAL

Bronx Kreate Hub

En Foco and WallWorks NY present the group exhibition, Reveal, at Bronx Kreate Hub, 15 Canal Place. Reveal explores the art of this year’s 10 En Foco Fellows who demonstrate the highest quality of work. They include: Javier Álvarez, Daniel Aros-Aguilar, Dennis RedMoon Darkeem, Carlos L. Esguerra, Paola Martínez Fiterre, Diana Guerra, Carmen Lizardo, Jahi Sabater, Cinthya Santos-Briones, and Nyasia Sylvester. Marisol Díaz-Gordon, Bronx-born and raised Puerto Rican award-winning photographer and adjunct lecturer, is the curator. Reveal is on view from June 11 to July 12.

NIGHT VISION

On the Fire Escapes at Bronx Kreate Hub

Also outside on the fire escapes of Bronx Kreate Hub, En Foco, and WallWorks NY present Night Vision, a solo exhibit featuring a selection of black and white street images by Marisol Díaz-Gordon. This street photography project has evolved from the Lower Manhattan series to Night Vision. A collection of images of Manhattan’s Lower East Side and Chinatown captured at night, resequenced, and translated into a triptych. This exhibit, on view from June 11 to October 1, is part of En Foco’s new Fire Escape Gallery.

REFLEJOS/REFLECTIONS

Romanesque Revival Row House Gallery

Reflejos/Reflections features Erika Morillo and Adeline Lulo, previous winners of the En Foco Photography Fellowship, at the Romanesque Revival Row House Gallery, 413 East 140th Street in Mott Haven. Curated by En Foco’s Oscar J. Rivera, the exhibition explores and highlights the multifaceted nature of diasporic cultures. The exhibit focuses on the Dominican experience, told and nurtured by femmes. Each artist works in different ways to document, uplift, and celebrate their families, their communities, and their cultural legacies.

Bronx Documentary Center

Also, visit the Bronx Documentary Center (BDC), a non-profit gallery and educational space at 614 Courtlandt Ave. and the BDC Annex at 364 E. 151st Street in Melrose. On view until June 26, is Look at the USA, an exhibition of the work of noted documentary photographer Peter van Agtmael, which focuses on the fault lines of the post-9/11 United States, at home and abroad.
