Latest news from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum:

'"The fantastical and revelatory ‘Drawing the Curtain: Maurice Sendak’s Designs for Opera and Ballet’ is up for the summer at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and it’s a marriage of visionaries," said Cate McQuaid of the Boston Globe, "[Sendak and Gardner] had in common passions for opera and old masters, and a faith in the transformational spaces that museums, books, and performances open within the souls of their audiences."

Summer is moving fast! Don’t miss your chance to see Drawing the Curtain: Maurice Sendak’s Designs for Opera and Ballet, a celebration of the beloved picture book author’s "second act" as designer for opera and ballet. Come see Max and his Wild Things, the Nutcracker and Tiger Boy, and other celebrated characters in illustrations, dioramas, costumes, and set pieces that simply scream "Sendak"!

Be drawn in by the vibrant pages of a 500-year-old illuminated manuscript from Isabella’s own collection. Close Up: Bourdichon’s Painted Prayers showcases stunning devotional miniatures on pages no larger than a postcard.'
