The end of the summer is not the end of the world. Here’s to October....

Changes in Library Fines Structure to Begin on November 1

The Library's temporary suspension of fines, in effect since March of 2020, is ending on October 31, 2022.

After reviewing a wide body of research in regards to the negative impact of fines on equitable access to library materials, the Waterford Public Library’s Board of Trustees has voted to eliminate the collection of fines on most categories of materials.

This decision is in line with over 100 of our fellow Connecticut libraries and the majority of major library systems nationwide.

All Other Materials will remain FINE FREE.
Borrowers remain responsible for the replacement cost of any lost or damaged materials. Fine accrual on the above-listed categories of materials will begin on November 1.
It is recommended that if you have any overdue items at home that you return those to the library by October 31.
Our complete loans and fines policies are available on our website.

October Artist: Fred Verillo
I've had an interest in photography from an early age. I “earned” my first camera, a Kodak Brownie by selling “chances” door to door in my neighborhood in New Britain, Connecticut.

I moved to New York City in the early seventies and there my interest in photography merged with my love and excitement for the City and I began years of documenting and capturing the urban landscape I found so compelling.

By 2018 I was ready to make a change and I moved to Old Lyme, the small Connecticut town by the shore where there is an abundance of natural beauty. Though my New York chapter came to a close, my love for photography has not. And here, worlds apart from there, I continue to expand my portfolio to reflect how I see things through the lens of my camera.

I thought it was finally time to do a show that does not include my work from the City.  I am happy to have the opportunity at the Waterford Library to show my photos from our beautiful and historic area.
