The Board of Directors of the Delray Beach Public Library is pleased to announce that Mykal Banta has been named the Executive Director, effective immediately. Mykal has been with the Library since September 1994 when he was hired as the Head of Reference.

In 1998, he was promoted to Assistant Director a post he has held for 24 years. Well known to Library patrons and in the community, Mykal is Vice President of the Board of Directors of Family Promise and serves on the Interfaith Committee of Palm Beach County and is a member of the Delray Initiative to End Homelessness.

He is active in the Library’s community outreach with the Interfaith Committee’s Shower Truck, and our bi-monthly “Wash and Read” program at the Laundry Stop. Mykal is also a published author and holds a BA with a concentration in Journalism from Wayne State University and a Master’s in Library Science (MLS) from the State University at New York Albany.
