On Friday August 5, the Creative 360 Yes We Can! program will honor Midland natives Joanne and Walter Rupprecht.

The Rupprechts began dating in 10th grade and have been married for 71 years! Joanne earned her B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Rochester and Walt earned his at the University of Michigan. Both enjoyed careers at Dow Chemical—Joanne for 20 years and Walt for 37.

Both are active volunteers: Joanne served in church, the Epworth nursery, Sunday school, Jaycee Auxiliary, PEO, and was active in establishing the Midland Preschool Center while Walt was active in the Jaycees; served terms on the Midland City School Board; was elected for 8 years as chairperson of the Midland County Republican Party. Walt is also a member of Kiwassee Kiwanis and has sung bass for more than 30 years with the Men of Music. Both spent many hours volunteering at Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.

“Taking time to recognize members of our community who volunteer their time is important to Creative 360,” said Laura Vosejpka, Creative 360 Executive Director. “As a non-profit, we understand community leaders like the Rupprechts are vital.”
