Visit the Contemporary Art Center Resident Artist Studios where artists create, display and sell their work. Enjoy the unique and creative talents of local artists.
Jessica McGhee will talk about her art on exhibit at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria starting at 7:00pm in Gallery 3R. This is a great opportunity to learn about her creative process. This event will be a part of our regular 1st Friday event

Closing Reception: Saturday, July 23, 6-8:00pm
Contemporary Art Center of Peoria and Studios on Sheridan will celebrate all participating artists with two evening viewing opportunities. The public is welcome to view the art exhibit with award ribbons displayed July 1 during 1st Friday 5-9:00pm. There will be no formal programming this evening.
The public is also invited to the Closing Reception on Saturday, July 23, 6-8:00pm. There is no charge to attend the 1st Friday event or the closing reception.
Regular viewing hours: Wednesday-Saturday noon-5:00
Artists enrolled in the Contemporary Art Center’s Artist Membership program (CIAO) return to the Studios on Sheridan for a dynamic group exhibition featuring one work of art from each member covering the mediums of drawing, ceramics, fiber, sculpture, painting, printmaking, furniture and more. Most pieces are for sale, created in the last 3 years and not exhibited in a previous CIAO Artist Group Exhibit.
The judge for awards is John Steck Jr., Instructor of Photography, Art & Design in Residence at Bradley University. Over $500 in awards were chosen by Mr. Steck and indicated with ribbons.

A father and son explore psychic space in mixed media painting, monotype assemblegraphs and watercolors revealing an undeniable visual connection. Both share service at Quincy University: Robert as Professor of Art/Curator (1968-present) and his son Jason as Lecturer in Art (2000-2010) who passed in 2014.

Jessica proves that trash is full of potential by creating colorful jewelry and sculpture using discarded items found during community clean-ups. This installation, inspired by sea life endangered by plastic pollution, is a continuation of that process. With Jessica’s cancer diagnosis in 2021, the work has expanded to also chronicle her experience with cancer - from diagnosis, through treatment and to recovery.
1st Friday Event, July 1, 2022:

Wednesday, June 29 - August 17, 6:30-8:30 pm (eight 2-hour sessions)
Ages 18 & up, Minimum Students 4, Max. 10
Class Fee: CAC Member: $65, Non-Member: $80
Students may pay for the full amount or drop-in fee for $10 / night.
Artists are invited to draw or paint the figure from a live clothed or nude model. A monitor will direct the model to change poses and provide guidance, if desired. There is no instruction, but students are encouraged to seek advice from others in the class. Students must bring their own supplies and materials. Easels for sitting and standing will be provided, but artists may bring their own supports also.
