Exhibition Opening for "Upon Thy Gates: The Winik Mezuzah Collection"

You are invited to the opening of our new exhibition, Upon Thy Gates: The Elaine K. and Norman Winik Mezuzah Collection, from the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education in Portland. Curated by Kenneth Helphand, the exhibition presents 73 mezuzahs collected by the Winiks that represent a wide range of styles, materials, and Jewish symbols. The mezuzahs were created in places all over the world, including Israel, the United States, Denmark, England, Ethiopia, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Iran, Italy, Morocco, Poland, and Yemen, and date from the late 18th to the 21st century.
The exhibition will be on view through April 23, 2023. Admission to the opening is FREE and open to the public.

“Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire” Cantata

Join us in our historic sanctuary for the East Coast debut of Yale Strom's cantata in honor of those lost in the 1911 Triangle Factory Fire. The quintet will also perform klezmer and Italian melodies that would have been heard in NYC before WWI.
