Mushroom ID for Beginners (Virtual)

Interested in mushrooms, but not quite sure where to start? Join The 3 Foragers as they share some of the secrets of the fungal world and teach you how to safely identify wild mushrooms using various available tools and techniques. You'll learn how to use your senses to examine mushrooms for their sights, smells, and tastes, and consider the relationships between fungi and the natural world around us. We will dispel common myths, and discuss mycophagy, the cooking and eating of wild mushrooms.

Seed Saving Workshop

Seed saving is more than a hobby or pastime, it is a means to food justice, food sovereignty and self-sufficiency. Join the Wilson Branch and Samad Gardens Initiative. This workshop will include a basic overview of plant genetics and reproduction needed for seed saving, as well as practical techniques to saving and storing seeds. We will cover the seed saving of “dry” and “wet” seeds. In the hands on portion, participants will save a variety of herb and vegetable seeds to take home.
Registration encouraged, but drop ins welcome.
