From: City Of Wichita

This weekend, September 24-25, over 200 historical re-enactors from across the country will convene at Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd., to celebrate Wild West Days.

The largest gathering of old west reenactors in the midwest, Wild West Days, is a fundraiser for Historic Wichita Cowtown, Inc., the non-profit that helps to support Old Cowtown Museum.

Visitors will experience historical encampments and enjoy special demonstrations, first-person presentations, shows, and raffles throughout the day. There are many opportunities for interaction with historical figures and lots of old west fun, including gambling and gunfights by eight different groups, as well as vendors and food trucks. Check the daily schedule at facebook.com/OldCowtownMuseumWildWestDays22.

Funds raised during Wild West Days support programming at Old Cowtown Museum and the Board of Trustees’ nearly 20,000-piece permanent artifact collection of textiles, furnishings, tools, furniture, machinery, farming equipment and art. Old Cowtown Museum's collections reflect aspects of life on the frontier in the late 1860s and 1870s. This collection is showcased throughout the 54 historic and recreated buildings at Cowtown located along the banks of the Arkansas River.

Cowtown’s mission is to educate the public regarding the history of the West through the interpretation of this time period as a living history museum. Each year, the museum serves thousands of Wichita-area school children through educational programs as well as programming for adults and families.

Regular admission rates apply for Wild West Days:
