CITY HOLIDAY CLOSURES TOMORROW- All City of Tucson offices, except for emergency services, will be closed tomorrow, Nov. 24, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for customers with regular Thursday or Friday collection. The Los Reales Sustainability Campus (landfill) will be closed. Sun Tran buses and Sun Van will run on a Sunday schedule, and the Sun Link streetcar will operate 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun Express and Sun Shuttle will not be in service tomorrow, except for ADA-qualified passengers. Tucson City Court, including the City Prosecutor’s Office and City Public Defender’s Office, will be closed to the public tomorrow and Friday. Although offices are closed, victims may leave a message at (520) 791-5483. Tucson City Court has designated the fourth Friday after the fourth Thursday of November (the Friday after Thanksgiving) as a non-juridical day.

OFFICE OF ECONOMIC INITIATIVES WINS STATE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARD - The Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) recently presented the City of Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives (ConnectTucson) a Golden Prospector Award to recognize excellence, innovation, and creativity in economic development. During the annual Fall Forum held recently in the City of Maricopa, the Office of Economic Initiatives won the Golden Prospector for Marketing Brochure. The brochure was developed in 2021 with a goal to create something updated, concise, and consistent with its economic development brand as featured on the ConnectTucson website, which launched in early 2020. The brochure speaks to both the lifestyle and the economic development environment of the community and frames the community as a city in harmony. The Golden Prospector Awards were established more than 20 years ago to recognize excellence in economic development.

HELP SHAPE ARIZONA’S TRANSPORTATION FUTURE - The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is currently updating its Long-Range Transportation Plan, which outlines ADOT’s priorities and vision for Arizona’s transportation system over the next 25 years. ADOT is asking for the public’s input to help develop the plan. You can learn more about it at the link below and share your feedback on what’s important to you through an online survey in English or Spanish. That survey is available through Dec. 21.

WATCH A VIDEO ABOUT THE 96" PIPELINE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FROM TUCSON WATER AND THE CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT - Tucson Water uses renewable water supplies from the Colorado River to meet customer demands, and the water is delivered using infrastructure operated by the Central Arizona Project (CAP). The CAP annually shuts down portions of its system as part of its maintenance program to allow Tucson Water crews and contractor conduct inspections and repairs to segments of a 96” pipeline. Ahead of the repairs, Tucson Water's Clearwell Reservoir, located in the Starr Pass area, and the 96" pipe is drained. While the main transmission pipeline that delivers water into the community is taken out of service, water delivery to customers continues through the use of Tucson Water's system of ground wells. REGISTER TO TAKE PART IN THE SENIOR OLYMPICS - Tucson Parks and Recreation presents the 38th annual Senior Olympic Festival, Jan. 7-28, at several venues throughout Tucson. The festival is a celebration to promote fitness, health, and an active lifestyle among adults 50 years of age and older. Some of the events include volleyball, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and more. Entry fees vary by event.
