LARAMIE CITY COUNCIL PROUDLY ANNOUNCES JUNE 2022 LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH
On June 7, 2022, Laramie’s City Council proclaimed the month of June 2022 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Pride Month. Laramie PrideFest was founded in 2017 to raise awareness about the LGBTQ+ community and its contributions to our unique, diverse human and cultural tapestry.

Laramie was the first city the state to prohibit discrimination against residents on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity for employment, public accommodations, or housing. In 2018, Jackson, WY became the second municipality to adopt a Non-Discrimination Ordinance and, just recently, Cheyenne approved a resolution against such discriminatory practices.

This year marks Laramie’s 6th Annual Laramie PrideFest with events planned for June 25th, including a Pride March and PrideFest Celebration in Washington Park. Held in tandem with celebrations occurring around the State, nation and world, the local event provides an  inclusive environment in which to celebrate and honor the varied sexual orientations and gender of every Laramie resident.   Pride celebrations are commemorated in June to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the birthplace of the modern fight for LGBTQ+ justice and equality which began fifty-three years ago.

The City welcomes the 2022 Laramie PrideFest and recognizes the accomplishments, history, and legacy of LGBTQ+ persons and their friends and family evident throughout the Laramie community and across the Equality State.
