The Kilgore City Council will conduct Public Hearings in the City Hall Council Chambers, 815 N. Kilgore Street, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 and Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. on the proposed budget and Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2023.

The proposed budget allocates funding for all City services.  This year’s budget makes significant reductions to staffing levels and capital maintenance appropriations in order to balance the budget. The tax rate proposed in the budget is .599 which is more than the No New Revenue Tax rate of $0.532081 which would be necessary to raise the same amount of revenue from taxes as the prior year.  This rate represents no tax rate change from the prior year. This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year's budget by $886,222 and of that amount $ 69,305 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.   Members of the public are encouraged to attend the public hearings or provide feedback by emailing [email protected].
