Celebrate Juneteenth

Juneteenth follows the annual celebration of Black freedom and emancipation from slavery that was originally organized as “Jubilee Day” on June 19th . Jubilee celebrations of the past have included music, barbecues, prayer services, and other activities connected to the celebration of the end of slavery and the theme of emancipation.
In 1979, Texas became the first state to make Juneteenth an official holiday with several others states following the tradition in years after.  In June of 2021, Congress passed a resolution establishing Juneteenth as a national holiday; President Joe Biden signed the holiday into law on June 17, 2021. This year, 2022, the City of Healdsburg will be honoring the day and the commemoration of the emancipation of slavery. Our offices will be closed on June 20th in honor of the national holiday.

Illumination of Healdsburg Avenue Bridge Honoring Pride Month

The City of Healdsburg is proud to recognize and celebrate the Healdsburg LGBTQIA+ community with a new temporary illumination of the Healdsburg Avenue Bridge. The bridge’s different colors originate from the Pride Flag and are meant to represent togetherness. The bridge will be illuminated throughout June in recognition of Pride Month.

Healdsburg 4th of July on the Plaza

Please join us on July 4th  from 10 am to 1 pm at the Healdsburg Plaza, for a morning-long event with many activities and the annual Kids Parade. The fireworks show will be at 9 pm on the night of the 4th. During the City of Healdsburg fireworks show, there will be no spectator seating on the High School ball field and soccer field. This year’s show is larger than in years past. In order to ensure spectator safety with the larger show, we need to restrict access to the shooting area that encompasses the high school sports field complex. Spectator viewing will be available at Fitch Mountain Elementary just across University Avenue, as well as other vantage points throughout the City The event has been sponsored by the Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District and the City of Healdsburg. Please remember that using your own fireworks is illegal in the City of Healdsburg and instead please come and enjoy the morning activities and fireworks show!
