The City of Healdsburg has a regular City Council Meeting on August 1, 2022, at 6 pm at the City Hall Council Chamber located at 401 Grove Street, Healdsburg, CA 95448. The meeting will be conducted in a bilingual format and the agenda packets can be found online at: https://healdsburgca.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=2106 Individuals from the public may participate either by Zoom in English or Spanish and also in person.

Some of the items that will be discussed include:

-Awarding the contract for the Rehabilitation of the L&M Motel to DMR Builders in an amount not to exceed $1,348,776  funded by grants from the State of California and Sonoma County 

-Update on City Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts with Acosta Latino Learning Partnership

-Post Event Report from SD Media Productions' 2022 Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience Grand Tasting.

This past month we welcomed new employees to the City of Healdsburg. Pictured from top left to right and then bottom left to right are Eddie Mercado, Allen Silva, Sean Little and Joel Higuera.

Eddie Mercado Engineering Technician  
Prior to coming to the City of Healdsburg Eddie served as an engineering technician for the City of Ventura. While there, he assisted in maintaining Ventura's water and wastewater GIS assets. Eddie holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management and a minor in Studio Art from CSU Channel Islands.

Allen Silva Park Maintenance Worker II
Allen Silva is serving as a park maintenance worker II in the Community Services Department. For the past two and a half years, Allen worked as a park maintenance worker for the City of St. Helena. Prior to that, he worked at Max Process Machinery in Healdsburg as a maintenance worker.

Sean Little Police Officer
Sean Little is our new police officer with the Healdsburg Police Department. For the last eight years, Sean has worked for the Santa Rosa Junior College Police Department, serving the last year and a half as a police officer. During his time as an officer, he was assigned as a student cadet coordinator where he mentored the next generation of youth interested in law enforcement. He holds Associates of Arts degrees from SRJC in Administration of Justice and Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Joel Higuera Mechanic
Joel Higuera is serving as a mechanic – equipment service writer within the Administrative Services Department. For the past 2 years, Joel has served in the role of lead heavy equipment technician for the Sonoma County Water Agency. Prior to his time at the Water Agency, he spent 14 years serving in the Sonoma County Heavy Equipment Division as a heavy equipment technician. 

The City of Healdsburg, Sonoma County Supervisorial District 4, and Reach for Home will be holding a Community Meeting on August 10th at 5:30 pm on the L&M Village project. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an update on the opening of the L&M Village located at 70 Healdsburg Avenue, which will serve as an interim housing program. The program will serve those experiencing homelessness in our community. City staff and Reach for Home will be providing a 30-minute update on the project, the clients it will be serving, the operation of the facility, and information on construction activities that will commence soon. After the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session in which the public can provide comments.

On Tuesday, August 9th the Planning Commission will hold a public workshop to review a proposal to construct a 4-story building that will include 1,200 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and two residential units, and one accessory dwelling on the upper floors. The project would be accessed off Healdsburg Avenue and six parking spaces would be located at the rear of the building.  The purpose of the workshop is to introduce the project to the Planning Commission and community to obtain input.  No official action will be taken at this meeting.  Information on this workshop will be available on the City’s website under Agendas & Minutes no later than Thursday, August 3rd.
