Friendswood Arbor Day – Free Trees!

Keep Friendswood Beautiful is hosting the Friendswood Arbor Day event, previously known as the Tree Giveaway, this Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Centennial Park Basketball Pavilion - 2200 S. Friendswood Dr. beginning at 8am. Tree species that will be given away will be Red Oak, Red Maple and Live Oak trees in 7 gallon containers. The event will start with an educational presentation on how to plant your tree then trees will be handed out to residents. The event starts at 8 a.m. and ends when all the trees are gone. We suggest those who are interested in attending, please arrive early because they do go fast! (30 minutes) The trees are limited to one per family (first come-first served) and is for Friendswood residents only. A City water bill or driver’s license is required. Delivery is not provided.

Fireworks Reminder

Since January 1st, Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department has responded and contained two fireworks related grass fires. The Fire Marshal’s Office reminds residents that fireworks are illegal to use within the City. Grass fires can quickly get out of control leading to losses of homes and risking the lives of residents and responding firefighters. Visit friendswood.com/fireworks for more information.

Register for a SKYWARN Training Class

In partnership with the City of Friendswood, League City is hosting a SKYWARN Training class on February 2nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The class will be at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center located at 400 W. Walker St., League City.

SKYWARN is a program that trains volunteer members of the community to help provide severe weather information to the National Weather Service. To register for the training, please call 281-554-1300 or email LCOEM. Pre-registration is required.
