The Grand Parade

On Monday, July 4th, the Friendswood 127th Annual Fourth of July Celebration begins at 10 a.m. on S. Friendswood Drive (FM 518) at Heritage Drive and concludes at Stevenson Park.  Friendswood Dr. will be shut down in both directions from 9:50 AM- 11:00 AM on Monday, July 4, 2022, for the annual 4th of July Parade. Please use Sunset Dr. or Blackhawk Blvd. as alternate routes. All vehicular traffic will be stopped with barricades on all the secondary streets between FM 2351 and Whispering Pines until the conclusion of the parade. Parade winners will be announced at the Gazebo around noon.

Day Program

Stevenson Park - 1100 S Friendswood Dr.

Following the Grand Parade, there will be over 50 vendors, games, food, and music in Stevenson Park until 2pm. Friendswood officers will facilitate pedestrian crossing in front of Stevenson Park at the corner of Shadwell and S. Friendswood Drive. Please use caution and watch for pedestrian traffic during the event. Parade winners will be announced at the Gazebo around noon. 

Wristbands

Wristbands may be purchased for $10 each day of (cash, Mastercard or Visa). The day program event is free to the public the $10 wristbands are only for the following activities: Rockwall, Bungee Trampoline, Mechanical Bull, Obstacle Course, Train and Toxic Meltdown Extreme.

Evening Program - Concert & Fireworks

Centennial Park - 2200 S Friendswood Dr.

July 4th evening event at Centennial Park begins at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks will begin at approximately 9:40 p.m. There will be a variety of food vendors from BBQ to Kettle Korn available for purchase. If you choose to bring your own cooler please remember, no glass containers allowed in the park. If you are riding the shuttle, the cooler must be able to fit on your lap. We no longer have amusement rides at the evening program.

Shuttle Busses

There is no public parking at Centennial Park. Instead, a free shuttle service will be provided from Friendswood High School and Friendswood Methodist Church, buses start rolling at 6:30p.m. A bus to accommodate those with special needs will be available at Mary Queen Catholic Church. Shuttles will run to Centennial Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. stop for the fireworks and immediately start transporting attendees back to the parking locations once the fireworks end. Chairs and coolers are allowed on the shuttle. The cooler must be small enough to fit on your lap. No pets or glass containers. Pets are allowed to walk into the event but must be on a leash. Friendswood police officers will provide security services at the shuttle locations.

Parking Restrictions

Beginning Sunday morning, July 3rd at 8 a.m. there will be parking restrictions in place for the Lakes of Falcon Ridge subdivision for both residents and non-residents. Parking will be limited to one side of the roadway for all streets in the subdivision. Vehicles blocking the roadways will be towed at the owner’s expense. Compliance will be strictly enforced by Friendswood Police from Sunday, July 3rd at 8 a.m. until Tuesday, July 5th at 8 a.m. There are also temporary parking restrictions from Sunday, July 3rd at 8 a.m. until Tuesday, July 5th at 8 a.m. on both sides of FM 518 between Eagle Lakes Drive and Old Road and on Falcon Ridge, between Hawkhill Drive and West Blvd.

July 4th Celebration Timeline

All the times listed below are approximate and subject to change if necessary.

9:50 A.M. - Traffic shuts down on S. Friendswood Drive (FM 518)
10:00 A.M. - July 4th Parade starts

Day Program - 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.

12:00 P.M. – DJ Terry Mckee music at the Gazebo

12:00 P.M. – 12:30 P.M. Parade winners announced at the Gazebo

12:00 P.M. – Hulahoop Contest at the Large Pavilion (FREE)

1:30 P.M. – Wristbands sales stop

1:15 P.M. – Magic show at the Large Pavilion (FREE)

1:45 P.M. – Limbo contest at the Large Pavilion (FREE)

Evening Program - 6:30 P.M. – 10:00P.M.

6:30 P.M. – Shuttle busses and walkers start arriving at Centennial Park
7:30 P.M. – Program starts
8:00 P.M. – Concert starts
9:30 P.M. – Chamber of Commerce Raffle winner announced
9:40 P.M. – Fireworks show begins
10:00 P.M. – Walkers exit the park and shuttles start departure

Fireworks are Illegal

As we approach July 4th, the Fire Marshal’s Office reminds the public that fireworks are illegal to possess (with intent to use) or use within the city limits. The Fire Marshal’s Office and Police Department will be patrolling and will issue citations for the use of fireworks within the city limits.  Go to friendswood.com/fireworks for more information and FAQ’s about fireworks. Citizens are encouraged to enjoy our professional, full-scale display in Centennial Park starting at approximately 9:40 P.M.
