City of Emeryville News - AC Transit Lifts Onboard Mask Requirement on All Bus Lines

Government and Politics

October 8, 2022

From: City of Emeryville

AC Transit is allowing riders to board without having to wear a face mask.

AC Transit's protocol has been updated as a result of careful consideration, including the consistent decline in COVID-positive cases documented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) since July 2022.

However, please keep in mind, that mask wearing requirements are subject to change according to health and safety circumstances, including but not limited to:??

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or Transportation Security Administration (TSA) impose new masking mandates
  • The California Department of Public Health reinstates an indoor masking requirement
  • Health officers from Alameda and Contra Costa counties reinstate indoor masking requirements
  • The Bay Area experiences a spike in COVID-positive cases

Personal protective equipment (PPE) dispensers at the entrance of each bus will continue to have complimentary, disposable face masks and hand sanitizer available for the convenience of all riders.
