On 8/22/22 at approximately 5:33am, officers from the El Cajon Police Department as well as medics from Heartland Fire and Rescue responded to a private residence located at 1599 Soma Place in El Cajon on a call of a woman who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 37 year old woman in a bedroom with a gunshot wound. The woman was later pronounced deceased at the scene. Also in the home at the time of the shooting were the victim’s husband, Abdulhannan Abdurazaq Al Wari, and the couple’s 9 children, ages ranging from 2 years to 17 years old.

After an extensive investigation, detectives determined the woman was shot by her husband, Al Wari. Al Wari was taken into custody by detectives and booked into San Diego County Jail on charges of 187 PC, Homicide. Al Wari is not known to have a criminal history.

The name of the victim in this incident is not being released at this time pending notification of the family by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Child Welfare Services is working to place the involved children. None of the children were harmed during this incident.
