Boards and Commissions Applications Now Open!

Do you feel called to give back to your community? Do you like to volunteer your time to assist others? Do you want to participate in local government? If so, consider applying to serve on one of the City’s many Boards and Commissions!

The City is currently seeking passionate individuals to be a part of nine Boards and Commissions that help guide development, future needs, regulations, and more for Coppell. Applications will be accepted online at coppelltx.gov/boards through October 7.

What’s it like serving on a Board or Commission? Just ask Frank Gasparro, a current member of the Library Board! One of his biggest takeaways of serving is the valuable relationships he has cultivated with other board members, City of Coppell staff and the community as a whole. He has also gained a new appreciation for Cozby Library and Community Commons and the value it adds to Coppell. Learn more about Frank’s experience in the video above.

For a description of each Board and Commission as well as contact information, please visit coppelltx.gov/boards. Boards and Commissions applicants must have lived in Coppell for at least one year and must be registered to vote in Coppell. If you are unable to apply online or need assistance, please visit the City Secretary’s Office at Coppell Town Center, 255 Parkway Blvd., or call 972-304-3669.

A Message About Allies in Community

Inclusion is one of the key elements of the City of Coppell’s Vision 2040 plan as illustrated in Pillar Two: Foster an Inclusive Community Fabric. The community wants to celebrate Coppell’s cultural growth and diversity and create a place where everybody can contribute, belong and live cohesively.

Allies in Community™ is an educational program that continues to support this overall goal. Three classes, known as cohorts, comprised of community members and City employees have completed this unique initiative thus far. We are proud of the success of the program and the impact it has had on the community. We are also impressed by the graduates, Allies Ambassadors, who continue to share their experience and spread the message of belonging, inclusion, and allyship with their community groups, families, and circles.

We are looking forward to another season of Allies, however, the timing will be a little different than in years past. Recognizing the need for a focused champion, the City has created a specialist role internally and incorporated it into the newly reimagined Employee Experience (EX) Team. While we focus on this new role, we have paused recruitment for the next Allies in Community™ cohort. Please know that this pause is temporary, and we look forward to re-engaging in the future.

If you are an Allies Ambassador and would like to continue your good work in this area, please feel free to reach out to Yvonne Silva for information.

NTFB Peanut Butter Drive — Drive-Thru Donation Event This Saturday!
September 1 - 30

Every September during Hunger Action Month, the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) creates awareness about food insecurity and hosts a Peanut Butter Drive to collect this shelf-stable, kid-friendly protein to help feed our hungry neighbors. The goal for the 2022 drive is to collect 500,000 pounds of peanut butter.

Join the Coppell City Council and help NTFB meet their goal by donating regular-sized, plastic jars of peanut butter (other nut butters and sunflower butter also accepted) or by making a monetary donation to help feed children and their families who are facing hunger.

NTFB is hosting a drive-thru donation event from 10 am - 2 pm, Saturday, September 24, in the Coppell Town Center parking lot, 255 Parkway Blvd. Stop by to drop off your donations during the event, or bring donations by The COREWagon Wheel Tennis and Pickleball Center, Metrocrest Services, 13801 Hutton Drive, Suite 150 in Farmers Branch, or to one of the other official collection sites through September 30. Monetary donations can also be made online.

Learn more about the drive, make a monetary donation, or find a list of official drop off locations at ntfb.org/peanutbutterdrive.
