S. Belt Line Reconstruction Update

Crews continue to make steady progress on the S. Belt Line construction. There will be more subgrade preparation and roadway excavation this week. Utility improvements will pause at the end of this week with a concrete pour expected on Friday. For more S. Belt Line Reconstruction updates, visit coppelltx.gov/beltline.

Early Voting Begins October 24

Early voting in the November 8 election runs from Monday, October 24 - Friday, November 4. Visit coppelltx.gov/election to find the nearest early voting location, learn what’s on the ballot and more.

As part of the election, Coppell voters will be asked to consider two propositions concerning the allocation of sales and use taxes paid on goods and services purchased within city limits. Reauthorization of the sales tax collection will NOT result in an increase to the sales tax rate.

Proposition A
Whether or not to continue the adoption of one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets for a four (4) year period.

The City’s Streets Infrastructure Maintenance Fund is funded by a one-fourth of one percent sales tax established and reauthorized by Coppell voters. The quarter-cent sales tax that supports this fund provides a stable source of revenue for the maintenance of City infrastructure and projects such as street and sidewalk repairs, sign and signal maintenance, pavement improvements, and ADA improvements.

Proposition B
Whether or not to continue the adoption of one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax for crime reduction programs for a ten (10) year period.

The City’s Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) is supported by a one-fourth of one percent sales tax established and reauthorized by Coppell voters. The quarter-cent sales tax that supports this fund helps ensure the safety of the community and allows public safety to take preventative actions that decrease the chances of a large-scale incident.

Celebrate Fire Prevention Week!

October 9 - 15 is National Fire Prevention Week™ (FPW)! Join the Coppell Fire Department and the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA) in celebrating the 100th anniversary of FPW. This year’s campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape™,” works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes (or even less time) to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Your ability to get out of a home during a fire depends on early warning from smoke alarms and advance planning.

Here's what you need to know:

-It is important for everyone to plan and practice a home fire escape plan. Don't wait: create your Family Action Plan today!

-Early warning of fire is key: install smoke alarms in every sleeping room and outside each separate sleeping area. Install alarms on every level of the home.

-Test your smoke alarms at least once a month. Press the test button to be sure the alarm is working.

-Teach family members that when a smoke alarm sounds, they need to get outside quickly and stay outside.

-Choose an outside meeting place where everyone will go once out of the house.

-A closed door may slow the spread of smoke, heat and fire. Sleep with bedroom doors closed, and close doors behind you in the event of an evacuation.
