Government and Politics

November 7, 2022

From: City of Coppell

This is Coppell: Fire

We are proud to say that Coppell’s Fire, Rescue, EMS, and Prevention services exceed industry standards in all areas. All Fire Department members are credentialed to the highest level of EMT-Paramedic certification and the department’s three full time ambulances are classified at the highest level of Mobile Intensive Care Units from the Texas Department of State Health Services. All support vehicles and fire trucks are staffed and equipped at the same high level of Advanced Life Support. Coppell holds a Class 1 rating, the best rating possible, from the Insurance Service Office (ISO). Because of this rating, Coppell residents and businesses enjoy a decrease in their property insurance premiums. We stand prepared to respond to any type of emergency call and effectively perform as needed to save lives and property. In fact, the Coppell Fire Department responded to more than 4,000 calls for service in 2021 and the property protected by the department values over an estimated $7 billion. We’re also involved in community outreach by promoting fire and general safety in local schools and through free events and classes at Life Safety Park.

This is Coppell Fire.

The City of Coppell’s dedicated teams work hard to make Coppell the place you want to be. Visit coppelltx.gov/thisiscoppell to check out all the videos in the This is Coppell series and learn how we modernize, innovate, and break barriers to government.

November Event Guide

Find something fun to do this month in our November Event Guide!

Early Voting Ends Tomorrow!

Avoid November 8 Election Day crowds and vote early through Friday, November 4! Coppell Town Center, 255 Parkway Blvd., is an Early Voting location for Dallas County residents. The closest Denton County Early Voting location to Coppell is Flower Mound Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Rd. See additional Early Voting locations, learn what’s on the ballot and more by visiting coppelltx.gov/election.

As part of the election, Coppell voters will be asked to consider two propositions concerning the allocation of sales and use taxes paid on goods and services purchased within city limits. Reauthorization of the sales tax collection will NOT result in an increase to the sales tax rate.

Proposition A
Whether or not to continue the adoption of one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets for a four (4) year period.

The City’s Streets Infrastructure Maintenance Fund is funded by a one-fourth of one percent sales tax established and reauthorized by Coppell voters. The quarter-cent sales tax that supports this fund provides a stable source of revenue for the maintenance of City infrastructure and projects such as street and sidewalk repairs, sign and signal maintenance, pavement improvements, and ADA improvements.

Proposition B
Whether or not to continue the adoption of one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax for crime reduction programs for a ten (10) year period.

The City’s Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) is supported by a one-fourth of one percent sales tax established and reauthorized by Coppell voters. The quarter-cent sales tax that supports this fund helps ensure the safety of the community and allows public safety to take preventative actions that decrease the chances of a large-scale incident.

Make A Child Smile Holiday Program

For more than 25 years, the City of Coppell has sponsored the “Make a Child Smile” holiday program, encouraging community members to donate gifts to deserving children in Coppell ISD. In 2021, gifts were purchased for approximately 400 children in Coppell who may not have otherwise received a present. Please help us once again Make a Child Smile by participating in this special Coppell program.

From November 1 – 30, those wishing to participate can visit makeachildsmilecoppell.com to select a virtual ornament that includes the child’s gift preferences and clothing sizes. Those needing assistance with choosing an ornament are encouraged to stop by the City Manager’s Office.

Once items are purchased, please return the wrapped gifts with a tag including the family number and age of the child attached to the City Manager’s Office no later than 5 pm, Monday, December 5. The program’s goal is to provide at least one toy and one article of clothing for each child. City staff volunteers will deliver the gifts prior to Christmas.
