Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Focuses on Community Priorities and Recovery

City Manager Afshin Oskoui released a $76.6 million City of Belmont operating and Capital Improvement Program budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year, and a $14.6 million Belmont Fire Protection District budget that focuses on community priorities and economic recovery from the pandemic.

On May 24, 2022, City Council received a comprehensive introduction of the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Budget, including its integration of the Strategic Plan’s Strategic Focus Areas and community priorities, long-term fund forecasts, a five-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and budget highlights at a department level. Following this presentation, Council has set June 14, 2022, as the Public Hearing to adopt the proposed budget.

Protective Measures Urged as COVID Risk Remains High

With a greater presence of COVID-19 cases in the Bay Area, San Mateo County Health continues to urge residents to practice preventative strategies, including choosing to wear high-quality masks (such as N95/KN95) indoors, staying current with vaccination and boosters, getting tested, consulting a physician regarding therapeutics if positive, and increasing indoor ventilation. County Health also continues to monitor data about case rates and hospitalizations and evaluate all potential measures for protecting public health.
