From: City Of American Canyon

Hello,

School has been back in session for over a month now, and our youth are in full swing of learning and playing after-school sports. I want to thank everyone for being patient on the roadway and mindful of the extra pedestrian traffic during school drop-offs and pickups. Please stay vigilant in abiding by the rules of the road to avoid citations and traffic collisions.

Earlier this month, we had numerous vehicle burglaries and vandalism in the La Vigne neighborhood. This all happened over just one night and, to our knowledge, was a random act and not targeted at anyone specific. I want to thank all the neighbors who provided video surveillance footage to ACPD. I’m pleased to announce the suspect was apprehended and arrested. ACPD and Napa Sheriff Detectives also recovered some of the stolen property and returned the items to the owners. This is a prime example of how community policing and teamwork results in the apprehension of thieves. ACPD would like to remind the community not to leave valuables in vehicles at any time or at least not in plain view to avoid being a victim of theft hopefully.

This is also a great reminder to register your home video surveillance cameras with ACPD. As stated above, this helps us solve crimes that occur in your neighborhood.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The American Canyon Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff’s Department are collaborating in supporting the event by our Pink Patch Project. During the month of October, Officers and Deputies are wearing pink police patches on their uniforms. We have patches for sale to the public for $10.00. All proceeds from the sale of the patches will be donated to cancer research. So please stop by the American Canyon Police Department (911 Donaldson Way East) during the hours of 8 AM - 5 PM to purchase your patches.

Please join ACPD Officers and our American Canyon Fire Protection District partners at our public safety open house on Saturday, October 8th, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at 911 Donaldson Way East (Public Safety Building).

On Saturday, October 29th, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, ACPD will participate in National Drug Take Back Day. The community is welcome to bring any discarded prescription medications and sharps to ACPD for disposal free of charge.

Respectfully,

Rick Greenberg
Chief of Police
