AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. – Tuesday, June 7, 2022, the American Canyon Fire Protection District Board of Directors made the public announcement that Geoff Belyea will be the next Fire Chief of the American Canyon Fire Protection District (ACFPD) effective July 1, 2022. Chief Belyea will succeed Fire Chief Michael P. Cahill who has fulfilled his contract as of June 30. 

Chief Cahill served the American Canyon Fire District starting in August of 2020, leading the District and the community through the pandemic and several tumultuous fire seasons. “My experience here in American Canyon has been challenging and rewarding.  I have enjoyed developing a close working relationship the Fire Board of Directors, and serving the community, alongside the firefighters, ACCERT members, Reserve Fire personnel, and Administrative staff.”

“When looking for the next Fire Chief of American Canyon Fire Protection District, we as a Board, knew we didn’t have to look far as we had exceptional talent within the District. Geoff, who currently serves as the Assistant Fire Chief, has demonstrated natural leadership ability, excellent communication, and immense technical expertise,” said Leon Garcia, Board Chair. “His innovative ideas and professionalism will not only benefit the Fire District but the entire community.”

Chief Cahill said “Geoff is an extremely talented and experienced Chief Fire Officer.  Since first meeting him almost two years ago, I have continued to be impressed with his commitment to Napa County, American Canyon, and the fire service. His experience with CalFire and the County of Napa as its Fire Chief provides ACFPD an added bonus as he takes over the helm of our young and growing department.”

Chief Belyea joined ACFPD in September of 2021 as the Assistant Chief to oversee operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from Union University and an Associate of Science in Fire Technology. 

American Canyon Fire Protection District is an Advanced Life Support Agency comprised of two fire stations, a Fire Chief, an Assistant Chief, six Captains, 15 firefighters, and two Executive Fire Assistants.
