City Of American Canyon : City Manager's Update June 3, 2022

Government and Politics

June 8, 2022

From: City Of American Canyon

Hello,

Council Members Mark Joseph and Pierre Washington joined me this week in a meeting with residents concerned about a project in their neighborhood. Our conversation drifted into broader topics such as communications and community engagement. I’m proud of the communications American Canyon provides, but we always strive to do better, so we are redoubling our efforts to make sure everyone in American Canyon is informed.

While Nextdoor and other online platforms like Change.org are popular among residents for voicing their concerns, we always encourage our community to show up at public meetings when they want to provide feedback about our City. Showing up is the most effective way to make a difference and ensures City officials hear directly from you.

Next Tuesday, June 7, the City Council will meet at 6:30 PM to discuss two very important and interrelated topics. One involves an update to the City's General Plan while the other involves an exchange of properties with the Napa Unified School District. The City Council wants your input and there are several simple ways you can share your opinions. Click here for more details.

In other news, the Vallejo City Council will also hold a special meeting next Tuesday to approve a “48-unit permanent supportive modular housing project designed to house chronically homeless individuals.” The Broadway Project will be located adjacent Broadway Street immediately south and adjacent to  the American Canyon Dog Park.  Follow this link to share your perspectives with the Vallejo City Council.

Most importantly, next Tuesday, June 7th is California’s Primary Election Day.  There are two local measures (Napa County Measure “L” and American Canyon Measure “I”) and one local election for Napa County Sheriff.  Our military heroes sacrifice to preserve your right to vote – please honor their memory by fulfilling your patriotic duty.  There are four ways to return your mail-in ballot:

By Mail: Voters can return their ballot by mail as soon as they have voted and sealed and signed their return ballot envelope. Postage paid return envelopes receive expedited first class mail handling. Make sure your return envelope is postmarked by Election Day June 7, 2022. Ballots postmarked by Election Day will be counted as long as they arrive by June 14, 2022, 7 days after the election.

By Drop Box: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until 8 pm. on Election Day, Tuesday June 7, 2022. A secure drop box is located at City Hall (4381 Broadway), other locations can be found at https://services.countyofnapa.org/VoterInfo/.

Drive Thru: There are four vote centers offering drive thru ballot drop off Monday, June 6, 2022 from 8 am to 5 pm and Election Day, Tuesday, June 7, 2022, 7 am to 8 pm.
