City Of American Canyon - City Manager's Update - July 1, 2022

Government and Politics

July 4, 2022

From: City Of American Canyon

Hello,

Join us in celebrating the 4th of july! We have an exciting event planned and can’t wait to see you. This year’s parade will start at 3:00 pm at american canyon road and elliot drive; travel north on elliot drive to benton way, ending at community park ii (20 benton way). Make sure you grab your seats along the parade route and get ready for fun. The parade’s arrival at community park ii will kick off the party at our 4th of july festival, which will include food trucks, live music, silent disco, and other free fun activities for all ages!

We will finish the night with the best fireworks show in the area. You will not want to miss it! The fireworks will begin shortly after dusk. The silent disco will continue until 10:30 pm. We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate with us. Bring your lawn chairs, refreshments, but remember, no glass bottles are allowed at the park.

The american canyon fire protection district and american canyon pd want to remind you that all fireworks are illegal in all of napa county even those that are marketed as “safe and sane”. Fireworks pose a threat to all in our community including fellow residents, pets, and our open spaces that surround our community. Those using fireworks in any way will be held responsible for the cost of fighting any fires that may occur as a result and could also be held criminally liable. Acpd will be on the lookout for illegal activity during this time of celebration. Please help our community stay safe over this 4th of july holiday by celebrating responsibly.

Take care,

Jason b. Holley

City manager

Share your thoughts on roadway safety issues within american canyon

The city of american canyon is launching the public outreach phase of our local roadway safety plan (lrsp) development process! we’re working to combat the federal highway administration statistic that over 40% of vehicle fatalities across the u.s. Occur on local roads.

lrsps provide targeted solutions in addressing the roadway safety needs within our community – that means analyzing the city’s collision trends, developing countermeasures that can most effectively address the safety issues, and working with the community to ensure that everyone has a voice in their local public safety.

your feedback and participation in the lrsp process is essential! Learn more about american canyon’s lrsp development process, fill out our traffic survey, and add comments to the interactive map at: https://ghd.mysocialpinpoint.com/american-canyon-lrsp/home

National community survey results

Earlier this year the city of american canyon conducted the national community survey™ (the ncs™). The survey was developed by the experts from national research center at polco. A random sample of residents received a direct invitation to participate in the ncs, of which the opinions of a representative sample of residents of the city of american canyon were collected from february 7th, 2022 to march 28th, 2022. The margin of error around any reported percentage is 5% for all respondents and the response rate for the survey was 13%. Survey results were weighted so that the demographic profile of respondents was representative of the demographic profile of adults in american canyon. In addition to the randomly selected “probability sample” of households, a link to an online open participation survey was open to all city residents and was available for three weeks. More information about how the ncs is conducted, our community's results, and an additional opportunity for the community to share feedback on the ncs are all available on our website now at cityofamericancanyon.org/communitysurvey.tune in for the july 19th city council meeting for the ncs report and community feedback to be presented and discussed.

Eucalyptus drive sidewalk project

This work is anticipated to last through mid-august. At times, eucalyptus drive will be closed from donaldson way to los altos/theresa avenue, during the hours of 7am-5pm. Message boards on site will include the latest updates on the necessary closures, and detour signage will be in place.

Please take alternate routes while this construction is underway.
