Meet The Instructors

Ida Mae Irby, our new Watercolor instructor comes to us from the Savannah College of Art & Design with a Masters in Fine Art, where she studied graduate-level painting as well as jewelry making and computer-aided design.
She has taught a variety of courses, from figure drawing, to plein air painting and jewelry-making. She brings a love of art in multiple forms and mediums to our students as she encourages them to grow in their skills and the expression of their creativity.

Michael Ziegler, our Stained Glass instructor brings decades of experience in stained glass and in teaching to his students who come back semester after semester. They learn the basics, hone their skills to become highly capable stained glass artists in their own right, and enjoy camaraderie fostered by his warm personality.

Sheryl Marx, our Basic Drawing and Colored Pencils instructor, is a gifted artist who starts with the fundamentals, teaching in such a way that students are empowered to artistically succeed in all mediums.

Karen Earnhardt, our Mosaics for Your Home and Garden instructor, has her work featured at most juried art festivals in central North Carolina, including the recent Southern Christmas show. In her classes, she goes the extra mile by bringing all needed materials for her students, who find the art of mosaics a relaxing, rewarding, and beautiful outlet.
