Hello fans and friends of the Center Theatre,

We have some great events this weekend (Larry John McNally, Summer Travelling Shorts at the Red Hot Dog Festival, Where the Crawdads Sing, and Bullet Train). But I wanted to take some time to tell you about yesterday. Wedensday, August 10th - a busy summer day at the Center Theatre.

Our drama camps in Dexter and at the East Sangerville Grange started at 8am. 37 total kids are attending! We have 3 paid staff and our Americorps Vista Members making sure the kids have a fun and enriching experience.

At 10am, our Creative Theater Workshop met in the auditorium for the third time. Jeri Pitcher is working with the group to create a theatrical piece. They’ll be performing for friends and family and hopefully outside the Theatre as well. Thanks to the Maine Arts Commission for funding the program!

At 10:45 a group from Penquis rented the Off-Center Theatre to watch DC League of Super Pets followed by another Super pets rental at 12:30. We had 2 more public showings of Super Pets that day AND 2 showings of Bullet Train.

If that wasn’t enough, the cast of our Summer Travelling Shorts met to rehearse in the main auditorium in the afternoon.

Overall we had:

-51 kids and adults in our educational programs

-59 people who attended the movies

-5 staff members ‘on the clock’ and

-6 Americorps Vista Members

It was a busy day, but not all that unusual for this summer. And it wouldn’t be possible without your continued support. Thanks for helping us live our mission of making arts, education, and entertainment accessible to our rural communities to engage and inspire.

Thanks all, hope to see you soon at the Theatre!

-Patrick
