From: Center Theatre for the Performing Arts

Hello fans and friends of the Center Theatre,

If you haven’t heard, our board member Dani Buschmann is sitting up on our roof deck right this minute. You can watch the live stream here.

Dani will be stuck on the roof until we raise at least $1,000 for the Center Theatre. You can donate money to get Dani a snack or some food. You can have her sing a song or read a dedication. Or, if you’re in a mood, you can even pay to have watch her eat some unpleasant (to her) food right there on screen. In honor of her fundraiser, we’re offering Center Theatre seat sponsorships for $400 (usually it’s $500) and it will all count towards her total. So help her get off the roof and help the Center Theatre at the same time. Donate online at https://www.centertheatre.org/dani-on-deck or by calling the Theatre at (207)564-8943.

And while Dani’s on the roof, you can come to the Theatre to watch some great movies. We have The Woman King and Don’t Worry Darling playing today and all this week. You can even top off the day with the Old Blues Kats at 7pm - what a day!

Bounty, film and discussion

Bounty, part of the Dawnland film series, reveals the hidden story of the Phips Proclamation, one of many scalp-bounty proclamations used to exterminate Native people in order to take their land in what is now New England. In the film, Penobscot parents and children resist erasure and commemorate survival by reading and reacting to the government-issued Phips Proclamation’s call for colonial settlers to hunt, scalp, and murder Penobscot people.

After the film, Tara Smith (Executive Director of Central Hall Commons) will host a discussion with the film co-directors and participants Maulian Dana and Dawn Neptune Adams.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Maine Humanities Council.
