Walter Feldman 1953: A Modernist Comes to Providence

Wow did the month of May fly by!  This Saturday is the last day of our Walter Feldman exhibit.  A fitting tribute that it ends on Memorial Day weekend.  

Feldman served in the US ARMY European Theater in WWII.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and four battle stars reaching the rank of 2nd Lt in the Infantry.

The artist returned to Yale at the age of 22 after his sobering war experience then completed his undergraduate and graduate degree in studio art under Josef Albers and Wilhelm De Kooning forging a remarkable art career in Providence, RI at Brown University beginning in 1953.
