1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Help your child become a lifelong reader and be ready for kindergarten by participating in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program at the Barberton Public Library.

The goal is to read 1,000 books to your child (yes, you can repeat books) before they start kindergarten. Does it sound hard?  If you read just one book each night, you will have read 365 books in one year. In two years, you will have read 730 books. In three years, you will have read 1,095!

Visit the library and sign up in the Children’s Department, or online.

Children are invited to practice their reading skills with friendly puppy pals!

Trained therapy dogs make an ideal audience for beginning, struggling and reluctant readers.  The dogs are non-judgmental listeners, which allows kids to practice in a no pressure    situation, that can also help to build a positive attitude toward reading.

Visit our Children's Makerspace anytime and explore a variety of STEAM activities.  Minecraft, the LEGO wall and art station are always available, or you can choose an activity from our Makerspace Menu (some activities require children 8 and under to have adult supervison).
