Auburn’s Civics Academy will be Returning this Fall!

Community members can register for the opportunity to be a part of the sessions happening from September – November.

This 11-week free class is held on Thursdays (and 3 Saturdays) in different areas around Auburn, with the opportunity to learn about what happens behind the scenes in the City. Some topics include budgeting and allocations, Council and Mayoral duties, and other services done by different Departments around the City. If you are interested in being more involved in the City, this program is a great way to learn more! You must be willing to commit to the attendance of all sessions (you can miss TWO sessions and still graduate).

For the first time ever, we’re able to offer financial assistance to reduce barriers to participation such as child/adult care or transportation. If you are an Auburn resident, business owner/employee, in school (16 years and older), and/or have a general interest in Auburn, and are not running or currently serving in a political office you are welcome to apply!

Visit Auburn’s Civics Academy Page or connect with Chris Lovings Neighborhood Programs Coordinator at 253-876-1988 [email protected]

Auburn Traffic Advisory
Citywide Pavement Striping Begins August 17

Citywide pavement striping will be taking place starting Wednesday, August 17, 2022, through the end of August. Crews will be striping arterial and collector roads throughout the City. Please do not follow paint vehicles too closely or drive over wet paint. This work is dependent on weather and may be extended without further notice.

Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during painting, but minor delays should be expected in areas where painting is currently taking place.

For more information, contact the City of Auburn Public Works Department at 253.931.3010 or Project Engineer, Aleksey Koshman at 253.804.5071.

Crime Prevention
Through environmental design

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) can be achieved through better lighting, trimming overgrown bushes and shrubs, increased "natural surveillance" and an overall appearance of an "actively managed" property. An officer trained in CPTED principles will come to your property and conduct a CPTED survey.

The dividends CPTED pay, for very little investment, are remarkable. A property that looks well cared for and maintained, in addition to the obvious benefit of being more valuable overall, is a natural draw to more desirable tenants. At the same time, it sends a clear message to criminals that the owners and residents take pride in the property. Call 253.931.3063 to set an appointment to have your property inspected. View more information about CPTED.
