We had a blast on Star Wars Reads Day!

Happy Halloween! I hope you had a wonderful October, just as we did at the library. I put some highlights below from Star Wars Reads Day and the Town Trick-or-Treating event we had here. However, November is coming, and with it a new slate of fun programs for everybody. Read below for up to date information on programs, and discover some new books.

The library will be closed on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 for Veterans' Day, and will close early on Wednesday, November 22, and fully on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving.

The Friends of the Library will be hosting their book sale this month on Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Drop by to find some great books.

EARLY RELEASE DAY PROGRAM

Character Visit with
Ms. Frizzle - Exploring the Solar System

Wednesday, November 1 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
For ages 4 - 8

Explore the solar system and space travel with your favorite wacky science teacher, Ms. Frizzle.

Join actress & performer Carole Finn-Weidman for this very interactive program. It will be out of this world!

Extra Lego Club Session

Thursday, November 2 at EITHER

Build a creation using only what's inside a box full of Legos. Your finished creation will be displayed in the Children’s Room for a few weeks.

Peanut's Playhouse with Ventriloquist Kasandra Vargas

Saturday, November 18 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
For all ages

Ventriloquist and puppeteer Kasandra Vargas brings her friend Shelly the sea turtle for a fun-filled program.

Robotics Demonstration

Saturday, December 2 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
For grades 2 and up

Come watch Team Goofy Gyros present a demonstration of Robotics. They will host a scrimmage for nearby teams, with viewing available for anybody interested.

Put fun in STEM. Join us to learn about LEGO Robots. These budding engineers will share their knowledge of LEGO Robotics and FLL with the community.

Ashland Moms -- Little Crafters

The Ashland Moms offer a story & craft program for little ones once a month. Caregivers are asked to participate with their children. 

Project ABC Play Group
Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.
For ages 0-5
 
Come explore and learn to play with your little one to stimulate their growth and development. This structured program helps prepare children for socialization and a school experience.

PJ Storytime
Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.
For ages 3 and up
 
Come in your pajamas, and bring your favorite stuffed animals! We will read stories about a different one of Ryan's stuffed animals every week.

Lapsit
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
For ages 0-4

Join Miss Lois for a half hour of songs, stories and fingerplays. You can sing along with Miss Lois at home by watching her pre-recorded videos here!

Story and Craft
Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:15
For ages 4-8

Each week we will read stories and do a related craft project. Wednesdays and Fridays will repeat the same craft.

STEM Thursdays

Thursdays  4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

For ages 5-9

Alternates between:

Lego Club

10-Min Creation Station (none in November)
As the timer counts down kids have 10 minutes to create something using only the materials in their box. Lots of fun STEM toys to build with. Everyone will have a chance to build with several different boxes.
Engineering Exploration
Each session kids will build a different engineering-based project.  Sometimes we build as a group and sometimes everyone will build their own project.
On November 9, build a pulley system to lift a candy basket.

Read to a Dog

Saturday, November 4 and 18
at 1:30 p.m.

For kids who are reading

Children will have the chance to read to one of our corgi friends - Knives or Machete. Both are registered therapy dogs.

Seals are Jerks

Cranky Chicken: Party Animals
