The City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts and Culture is asking nonprofit organizations, artists collectives and individual artists to apply to join the “Creative Corps Capital Region” program, which covers Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, Alpine and Solano counties.

The program will provide grants to artist collectives and non-profit organizations to create artist-led campaigns to increase public awareness related to water and energy, conservation, climate mitigation, public-health awareness around COVID-19, civic engagement, and social justice.

The City in August was awarded $4.75 million from the California Arts Council to implement the state’s new California Creative Corps program for the capital region.

The grant program consists of two tiers of grants:

 - Twenty mid-sized grants of $117,000 to nonprofit organizations, collaboratives, and units of local or tribal government

 - Five large grants of $300,000 to nonprofit organizations, and units of local or tribal government

The City also will open a separate application for artists who want to apply for temporary positions in Sacramento City government departments for one year to assist in outreach and engagement around one of the four focus areas.

Those interested in participating can find program guidelines and apply on the City’s website: https://arts.cityofsacramento.org/creativecorps

Applications are due May 1 and projects are expected to start in August.
