April News from Amos Eno Gallery

Don't miss the extraordinary work of Irja Bodén in her solo show, Constellations, on view through April 30.

Irja Bodén’s ceramics begin as functional vessels, which she transforms into non- functional forms. The works reference subterranean, terranean, and celestial realms, as well as the dualities of the immigrant experience: empty vs. full, new vs. old and strange vs. familiar. Read more about her work in Constellations here.

Artist News

Hiroko Ohno's mixed media work Galaxy (2021) was on display in the Outer Orbit / Out of Orbit exhibition at Lichtundfire Gallery through April 1.

"The personification of dignity, and the process of self-awareness, is presented in action here," said Stephen Gambello about Galaxy, in his review of the exhibition in Arcade Project. "The universe itself is finding order, and upright balance, at the guiding hands of the artist herself."

On April 19, 2023, join Rosemary Meza-DesPlas and her fellow Latinx Artist Fellowship recipients Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, and Lucia Hierro, as they draw from first-hand experiences of family oral histories of migration and diaspora to discuss the impact these legacies have had on their practices and cultural production as artists. On Thursday January 5, 2023, Brainard Carey interviewed artist Aaon Wilder on Yale Radio about his solo exhibition Omission Rituals at Amos Eno Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. A transcription of the dialogue between Carey and Wilder with images of the artworks discussed can be read here.
