9th Street Chamber Music Second Annual Summer Festival

Arts and Entertainment

July 25, 2022

From: 9th Street Chamber Music Annual Summer Festival

According to co-owner and violist Liz O’Hara Stahr, “This festive, family-friendly party sets the tone for our season as an organization, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to offer this event to our community again this summer.”

This year, 9SCM is thrilled to welcome our performance partner, professional violinist Becky Anderson, a co-founder of VOTESart. VOTESart is a non-partisan organization that uses music to promote voter registration and creative civic engagement. Says Anderson, “Our goal is to connect music and musicians with civic engagement across the country, with a focus on in-creasing voter registration and voter participation.” In addition to being featured on the perfor-mance stage, Ms. Anderson will offer the opportunity for guests to register to vote, ask ques-tions, and find general information about voting on-site. 9SCM co-owner and violinist Matt Richardson shares, “We are dedicated to supporting our community in tangible, impactful ways. We are so proud to partner with Ms. Anderson to help encourage and enable all citizens to exer-cise their right to participate in the democratic process.”

The Summer Festival on the Lawn’s stage will rotate performances by various ensembles from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. In addition, there will be food and drink (including adult beverages) avail-able for purchase and a raffle drawing of prizes from local businesses. O’Hara Stahr states, “9SCM’s mission is to create new performance and education traditions that speak to the culture, needs and priorities of audiences in our current time. We’re bringing chamber music to a friendly forum - coming together outside on a summer day with some food and drink in hand, and room for children to play.
